Sharing My (Our) Story

I am sharing this with select friends for now, but someday, maybe I'll share it with a bigger group. These friends are people who are partners in prayer, and some are friends I know are going through the same fertility issues, or who have been there before.

I debated whether I'll share the cost of doing IVF. In the end, I decided to include it so people who are considering it will know the financial requirement to undergo this process. Anyway, as far as Kato is concerned, the cost of services is posted on their website. It is not a big secret. IVF is emotionally, physically and financially taxing. It is definitely not for everyone. That's why it took us a long time to decide to go for it.

Visit #10 - Check Up

I know I'm supposed to wait until end June but I decided to go for a check up again - just to see if we're on the right track. Anyway, as expected, I was asked to come back by June 27th, or day 2 of my period - whichever comes first. Other than that, we just discussed what will happen next. So on my next visit, I will have an ultrasound to check the thickness of my uterine lining. If all goes well, the embryo will be transferred on Day 18 of my period. And before that, I'll have to take some meds to prepare my body.

Speaking of preparing my body, the past three months, I've worked out regularly and have watched my diet. I've lost more than 10lbs, and at least 3 inches around my waist. My cholesterol levels have gone down significantly. However, I still have a lot of weight to lose, and my blood chemistry can still improve. Nonetheless, I am happy with my progress. I want a good vessel for my little embryo to grow into. Anyway, I have a couple weeks more, so I need to work harder.

For today's visit, I shelled out Php34,160. That's for the consultation (Php560), Blastocyst achievement which was completed three months ago (Php16,800) and Embryo freezing (Php16,800). This IVF thing sure isn't cheap!

Please continue to pray for the success of our IVF effort. And for my good health - that I'll continue to lose weight and my cholesterol to be at normal levels. Thank you.
