Sharing My (Our) Story

I am sharing this with select friends for now, but someday, maybe I'll share it with a bigger group. These friends are people who are partners in prayer, and some are friends I know are going through the same fertility issues, or who have been there before.

I debated whether I'll share the cost of doing IVF. In the end, I decided to include it so people who are considering it will know the financial requirement to undergo this process. Anyway, as far as Kato is concerned, the cost of services is posted on their website. It is not a big secret. IVF is emotionally, physically and financially taxing. It is definitely not for everyone. That's why it took us a long time to decide to go for it.

Aunt Flo is here!

September 11 | I knew it will come this week. Been feeling all the signs. Yesterday, I woke up with lower abdominal cramps. Shortly after, my period came. Finally! So I called Kato, and set a schedule for my 2nd day.

So this morning, I found myself in the familiar waiting room of Kato. It's been seven months since my egg was harvested and fertilised. I wonder how our little blastocyst is doing? Anyway, for today, I had ultrasound and hormone test. They checked my Estradiol, Luteinizing Hormone, and Progesterone. I have no idea what they are, but I was told they were all at normal levels, which means we can proceed. Dr. Mendiola asked me to come back on September 20th for a follow up check up. The Embryo Transfer was set to September 28. I can't believe this is finally happening!

To prep for the big day, I was prescribed Progynova three times a day for nine days. This will help thicken my uterine lining and prepare it to receive the embryo.

We paid Php4,928 at the clinic today - Php560 for the Ultrasound, and Php4,638 for the hormone test. I also spent Php626.50 for Progynova, which I purchased at Mercury Drug.

This is it, Lord. We wait in faith. May your will be done.
